The Academy Awards also known as Oscar is an accolade bestowed by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that recognizes the excellence of professionals in the film industry, that includes the directors, actors, and writers.
The formal ceremony wherein which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world and is televised live in more than 200 countries annually. Since its inception in 1929, The Academy Awards has become the event of the year for movie followers worldwide.
This year, The 83rd Academy Awards will take place this February 27th 2011.
