ALVAREZ Claims 154 lbs WBC Crown Title Over HATTON


ALVAREZ vs HATTON


Mexican sensation Saul Alvarez became the youngest world champion in super welterweight division defeating Britain's Matthew Hatton for the vacant slot crown of the WBC (World Boxing Council).

Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao, Philippines' pride and superstar vacated the crown ahead for May 7 bout with WBA Welterweight Super Champion, Shane "Sugar Shane" Mosley that prompted the Mexico-based WBC to give the crown to whoever wins between Alvarez and Hatton.

Alvarez, a 20-year-old freckled redhead dominated nearly every minute, outpointing Matthew Hatton on Saturday night to win the vacant WBC 154-pound belt over a unanimous decision. Saul Alvarez whose nickname is "Canelo" , which is a Spanish word for cinnamon, on Saturday improved to 36-0-1 (26 KO's), after the fight with Hatton. All of the judges scored the bout 119-108 in favor of Alvarez.

Alvarez clearly has the edge, being much bigger, younger and more athletic, stalking forward and landing multiple shots that bloodied Hatton’s face. A pair of right hands from Alvarez connected to Hatton's head-landing several dynamite combinations in the late 10th round that rocked a stunned Hatton .While 47 percent of Alvarez's 626 punches connected , Hatton has only connected 25 percent of his 546 blows.
